I love this place. The food is great! Traditional American bar/diner food. I recommend the prime rib. I can't wait to return.

Great place to eat. They make their own Bacon and their breakfasts are great. Also has very good prime rib and chicken & biscuits on Sunday.

Breakfast hotspot for north east on RT 5... Gets packed early. Fisherman, families and local flavor.

A nice place on the way to Erie or to the lake. The food is pretty good, although the fries could stand to be crisper. I overhead someone order well-well-well-done fries, meaning crispy, but they still arrived limp. Not bad in taste but just not very crispy. The staff does a good job accomodating special requests, tweaking the menu options (such as letting someone order soup in place of a side order with a dinner meal). The fried chicken was pretty good, and the turkey sausage is all right, although not quite as good as regular sausage. It is healthier, however, and that is a plus. Weeknights are not bad in terms of crowd size, but you want to get here early - before 5:30 PM - on a Saturday night to avoid a wait.

We stopped by for breakfast. It's dark inside. Food is OK. Cheap coffee doesn't taste like anything.

Great food and good service! And even though you can't see the lake from the restaurant, it's a good excuse to run down afterwards and take a peek at the ice dunes.

Love love love this place! Vast menu and I've never had a bad meal here. Full bar and lots of good beers. I usually get the blackened prime rib, it's always cooked perfect! Very reasonably priced and fantastic service. I always stop when traveling thru the Erie area, only five minutes or so from i90 on the corner of route 5 right by the lake. Not all fancy just a good hometown spot!!!

Great friendly service. The breakfast sausage sampler platter is too much food to eat so ask for a doggie bag. Italian hot sausage was outstanding. They have a nice bar area but I heard they close at 10 pm. Lots if parking. Five stars because it is cleaner than most restaraunt in its class. Owner is actively involved.

Yes, Erik H. is right. Everything here is pre packaged. I could not sub a side out for extra veggies because, according to the waitress, all the meals are purchased pre measured and weighed. They do not even have fresh broccoli in the back to steam for you. Sad. My first visit (dinner) I ordered something with crab in it. It turned out to be imitation crab. Disappointing but not that bad. After that I stuck to breakfast and lunch. Breakfast is the best bargain I would say. the fried mac n cheese is good. (Frozen variety. Uniform triangular shape. Nothing like cheesecake factory) Prices are decent. BUT...it is in the middle of nowhere, and your choices are limited. And the Free wifi makes it all worth it.

Nice friendly place. The baked scrod is excellent as are the homemade pies. Hubby said the burgers are great. You get large portions and everything is fresh

Great place for a nice breakfast or a delicious fish dinner. Also, make sure you try their deep fried pickles. It's nicely located right on Lake Erie. I definitely recommend it to anyone in the area.

We normally frequent the restaurant and have had many a good meal there over the years. The same could not be said on Mother's Day, 2011, however. There were eight of us that went in for dinner and it didn't go well. We waited at least 45 minutes for our food and almost everyone's meal was barely warm when it arrived. The food is usually tasty, but when the food is cold, it just doesn't work too well. We had quite a few problems getting drinks and when we did, we couldn't get refills. It turned out to be better to just not ask for anything else because you didn't know when it would arrive, so we just asked for the check. Everyone deserves a mulligan, but when we suggested the restaurant for Mother's Day and then no one in our party had a good experience, then it's tough to recommend it again.

The Freeport Restaurant was recommended to me by the front desk staff of a hotel I was staying at. The location was nice - close to (but with no view of) Lake Erie. The restaurant looks older, but certainly not run down. I was excited by the local wines on the drink menu, but the staff could not provide recommendations or descriptions, and ultimately I did not care for the wine I was served. The food menu was disappointing in that nearly everything, particularly the seafood, was fried or deep-fried. They could not prepare the food in other ways, leading me to wonder if it is all pre-made. Ultimately my meal was so-so, and a bit too greasy for my taste. I give their cole-slaw a thumbs up, but how much cole-slaw can a person eat, really? On top of all that, the service was slow even though the restaurant was only half full. My waitress was in "glacial gear." Like the rating says...I have experienced better.

A perch dinner to remember. If you haven't tried this place, come and get some! I have had the perch dinner and the chicken parm. I would recommend both but you will need a big appetite. The perch is great, the chicken parm really good with what seemed like a homemade sauce. The one beef I have with the place is the service, the waitstaff are not as friendly as I would expect for a local, salt-of-the-earth, home cookin' style of cooking place. Overall, when I am in town from Fairfax VA, I stop in to this place and have a bite. The yelp marker on the map is innacurate. From Harborcreek, drive east on Route 5 and the place is on the left, reverse for those travelling in from NY. -4 stars due to the waitstaff's demeanor
